Bilingual Clinician (Portuguese Speaking)
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
STATUS: Full Time OR Part Time
ABOUT JEFF’S PLACE: Jeff’s Place offers hope and healing in a supportive community for grieving children, teens, families, and individuals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate grief support groups for both English and Portuguese-speaking children, teens, adults, and families.
- Conduct intakes with families; provide initial assessments for program readiness or make appropriate referrals.
- Develop and implement culturally responsive therapeutic strategies to meet the diverse needs of the community.
- Provide individual counseling to bereaved clients.
- Assist in outreach efforts to build relationships with local schools, community organizations, and service providers to expand access and services to Portuguese-speaking individuals.
- Assist in the ongoing evaluation of the Jeff’s Place program.
- Supervise facilitators, interns, and volunteers when appropriate.
- Stay current in bereavement field through research, workshops, readings, and conferences.
- Provide psychoeducation about grief and loss to participants and community members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree (or licensure eligible) in social work, counseling, expressive therapies, or a related field (LICSW, LMHC, etc.)
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (verbal and written).
- Experience working with grief, trauma, and loss.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the cultural needs of Portuguese-speaking communities.
- Proficiency in clinical documentation and comfort using electronic record systems.
- Strong facilitation skills and experience leading therapeutic support groups.
- Ability to work 1-2 evenings per week to accommodate group schedules.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- An understanding of the grief process, and experience working with children who have experienced loss.
- Training in expressive-arts therapy, including the use of art, music, and/or movement.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, volunteers, and staff, and the larger community.

Contract Clinician (Child Loss Group)
REPORTS TO: Clinical Director
STATUS: approximately 7 hours per month
ABOUT JEFF’S PLACE: Jeff’s Place offers hope and healing in a supportive community for grieving children, teens, families, and individuals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To facilitate a support group for parents who experienced the death of a child bimonthly on Tuesday evenings.
- To participate in a one (approximately) 24-hour extensive training program focusing on working with and understanding the needs of the bereaved, as well as ongoing professional development training opportunities.
- To participate and provide clinical expertise in pre and post sessions with other volunteers, clinicians, interns, and staff prior and after the evening grief groups.
- To plan group activities, in conjunction with staff, that meets the needs of the group.
- To complete clinical notes directly following grief support groups.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NECESSARY:
- Ability to provide clinically sound treatment services based on client needs.
- Ability to respond to a range of clients’ needs using a variety of treatment approaches.
- Ability to make appropriate referrals to staff.
- Ability to maintain clinical records in timely compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or related discipline from an accredited educational institution. Independent licensure required.
Contract Clinician (Substance Use Loss Group)
REPORTS TO: Clinical Director
STATUS: approximately 7 hours per month
ABOUT JEFF’S PLACE: Jeff’s Place offers hope and healing in a supportive community for grieving children, teens, families, and individuals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To facilitate a support group for caregivers who experienced a death due to Substance Use, bimonthly on Tuesday evenings.
- To participate in a one (approximately) 24-hour extensive training program focusing on working with and understanding the needs of the bereaved, as well as ongoing professional development training opportunities.
- To participate and provide clinical expertise in pre and post sessions with other volunteers, clinicians, interns, and staff prior and after the evening grief groups.
- To plan group activities, in conjunction with staff, that meets the needs of the group.
- To complete clinical notes directly following grief support groups.
