Boston Marathon
Meet our 2025 Jeff’s Place Boston Marathon Team!
We are honored to introduce two incredible members of our Jeff’s Place family: Jessica Morency, a beloved team member, and Lisa Burgess, a past Jeff’s Place participant. This will be Jessica’s first marathon, fueled by her passion for running and her commitment to supporting our families. As for Lisa, she is no stranger to marathons, but we are thrilled to have her representing Jeff’s Place in her latest endeavor as she knows the power of our program firsthand.
Jessica and Lisa are not just running the Boston Marathon; they are running with purpose—as advocates for our mission to ensure that no one grieves alone.
We invite you to visit their fundraising pages to learn more about their personal stories and discover how you can help make a meaningful difference. Let’s come together to support their efforts and run alongside them in spirit as they race for hope and healing in our community.

I am honored to have the opportunity to raise money for Jeff’s Place while I train for my 7th Boston Marathon.
Jeff’s Place is an amazing non-profit organization that helps support grieving kids who have lost an immediate family member (caregiver or sibling).
Jeff’s Place is very personal to me and my family. After losing Eric (Ben, Abby, Sam, and Maddie’s dad) to suicide in 2016, I didn’t have the tools to support my kids in their grief while grieving myself. I was so grateful to find the love and support of Jeff’s Place so my kids could get support from others who “get it”.
Story time: Abby, now 21 and a senior at Dartmouth College, was just an angsty 13 year old when she lost her Dad. She wouldn’t even get out of the car when we came to Jeff’s Place for the first time. Fast forward 5 years later and Abby applied for and received a grant to start a grief support group like Jeff’s Place on the campus at Dartmouth. Although she is graduating in the spring she has helped so many even though she continues to (and will always) grieve the loss of her dad.
Please consider donating to help more grieving kids. ❤️❤️

Running a marathon has been a goal of mine since I was young, and running the Boston Marathon has been a dream ever since I moved to this beautiful city in 2018. I feel so lucky to be running it for Jeff’s Place, the organization that’s been my home away from home for the last 2.5 years.
When I tell people that I’m a grief therapist at a children’s bereavement center, they often mention how hard it must be. But if you could step into my shoes for just one day, you’d see how deeply rewarding this work is – and how incredibly special Jeff’s Place truly is. Working here as a clinician has been both a tremendous privilege and, at times, the toughest challenge of my life. I have the honor of sitting with children, teens, young adults, and caregivers as they share their stories of grief, loss, and love.
When families come to Jeff’s Place, they are often at their lowest point. They arrive in the midst of tragedy, and there are no easy fixes or happy endings. The reality of their loss is permanent. While we hold space for their pain, we also hold hope for these families, until they can carry it themselves. As they find connection, joy, and shared humanity within our community, they begin to rebuild their lives after loss. Jeff’s Place helps provide the scaffolding to rebuild—empowering families to write their own story of resilience, one that can include laughter amid tears and beauty amid suffering.
My involvement with this supportive community has forever changed me. The people I’ve met, the growth I’ve witnessed, and the resilience I’ve encountered have inspired me to take on new challenges—like running a marathon!
I love cheering on the kids I work with year after year, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting Jeff’s Place by making a donation to my fundraiser. We are small but mighty, and your contribution will truly help us plant seeds of hope in the lives of grieving families.
